ANNOUNCEMENT OF ISAMPE AWARDS FOR THE YEAR 2011
Indian Society for Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (ISAMPE) is a Society of professionals in the area of Materials and Processes dedicated to the promotion of Materials and Process technology in India. ISAMPE has instituted annual awards and invites applications for these awards. Some modifications have been made in the awards related to smart technology from 2010 onwards as indicated here.
Those who have already sent their applications/nominations in response to earlier notifications will also be automatically considered for the modified awards. These awards will be distributed during the Annual General Meeting of the Society likely to be held in
July every year.
1. ISAMPE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING DESIGN AND/OR PROCESS DEVELOPMENT
This award with a citation and cash incentive (Rs. 10,000/-) will be given for outstanding, innovative, engineering product design and technology development in any field of engineering carried out during the past 3 years in the country.
2. “Vijay Zaveri Award for Excellence in Technical Support”
ISAMPE, in association with M/s Guli Enterprises, Bangalore has instituted this Award in memory of late Vijay Zaveri, founder Member and first Honorary Secretary of ISAMPE. This award with a citation and cash incentive of Rs. 5, 000/- will be given for excellent support in the field of Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Composites.
3. ISAMPE Awards for Smart Materials and Systems Technology Development
ISAMPE has instituted following Awards for promotion of advanced Technology in the Country.
A) “ISAMPE Award for Smart Materials and Systems Technology Development” with a citation and cash incentive of Rs. 10,000/-.
B) “ISAMPE Student Award for Smart Materials and Systems Technology Development” with a citation and cash incentive of Rs. 5,000/-.

Eligibility Criteria and Conditions
- The nominee/applicant should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in his/her specialization.
- The nomination should be for a product or process developed during the last three years (May 2008 to May 2011).
- If the nominee/applicant has worked as a part of a Team for the development of a product/process, his/her specific contributions requiring recognition to be highlighted.
- The applicant/s or nominee/s and their Organisation/Institution should agree to provide access to ISAMPE Awards Committee to assess the work of the applicant/s, nominee/s and interview them in person, if required.
- The applicant/s or nominee/s, if selected for the award, should personally receive the Award at the ISAMPE Annual Meeting. The travel and local expenses of the applicant/s or nominee/s shall be borne by themselves or by the Organisation/Institution sending the nominations.
- ISAMPE Executive Board has the final authority on all the decisions taken with respect to the award and no correspondence will be entertained in this matter.
- The responsibility for getting valid permits and licence for disclosure of information required for the award solely rests with the applicant/s and the nominee/s. The Society shall not in any way be responsible for any disputes or problems arising out of such a disclosure. Also, the Society shall not be responsible for authenticity or otherwise of the information.

“ISAMPE annual awards for Smart Materials and Systems Technology Development-2011”
Eligibility Criteria and Conditions
The award shall be annual and shall carry a cash reward and a Certificate. Two categories of awards are invited i.e. general and student.
General Category award shall be given to an individual or group of individuals working on their own or through any institution or organisation in India for original or innovative work of development of a product or a process involving application of advanced and innovative technologies in materials or structures(including smart materials/structures).
The student awards shall be given to an individual or group of students working together satisfying the following criteria
- a. The individual student or group of students should have been regular student(s) working for a degree in a science or engineering college during the period in which the work was carried. On completion of the course he can be studying for a higher degree or working as a Research fellow/Associate or equivalent position which does not constitute a regular employment.
- b. The individual (or every member of the group of individuals working together) has not completed 3 years since the award of the degree (for which the proposed work was done) as on 1st July of the year of the award.
If the applicant or nominee has worked as a part of a team of the project, his/her specific contributions requiring recognition to be highlighted.
The award shall be given for original or innovative work of research and development, including academic work, which would contribute towards the advancement of knowledge in the area of materials, structures or systems (including smart materials/structures/systems). The work may cater to design, analysis, materials behaviour, modification or generation of new materials, processing, and usage and performance evaluation. The application should have been already demonstrated or there should be a satisfactory evidence of the potential of the same.
The nomination should be for the work that has been carried out preferably during the period not more than three years proceeding the year of award.
The applicant/s or nominee/s and their organisation/institution should agree to provide access to ISAMPE Awards Committee to assess the work of the applicant/s, nominee/s and interview them in person, if required.
