| The proposed Workshop
Processing is the major element in the fabrication of a composite
product. During the past three decades there has been tremendous
development in various processing techniques for composites.
The state-of-the-art knowledge on processing methodologies
is essential for a wide spectrum of personnel working in R
& D organisations, academic institutions and industries.
The processing of composites is different from that of metals
due to their layered nature and that the processing techniques
are unique. The material itself is formed along with the product
in the case of composites. Parameters like fabric lay up sequence
can be monitored effectively during processing and hence utmost
importance of in-process quality control. The curing conditions
also play an important role in the quality of a product.
This workshop is aimed at exposing the participants to various
processing methods employed and state-of-the-art techniques
in the processing of composites. It will also emphasize the
role of quality control and various quality control measures
required for realizing a quality product. Thrust will be given
to various parameters like orientation, lay up sequence, curing
conditions etc. which have an impact on quality of the products
fabricated.
Overview of raw material selection and non destructive testing
of composites is also planned.
Topics covered
• Moulding techniques
• Processing of ablatives & load bearing structures
• Filament winding
• In - process quality control
• Raw material selection & characterisation
• Non - destructive testing
Faculty
The faculty for the workshop constitutes eminent scientist
/ engineers drawn form reputed academic institutions, R &
D organisations and industries. The illustrative lecture notes
will be highly useful for the participants in their career.
Events
• Lectures with multimedia presentation
• Interaction with faculty
• Facility visit and demonstration
• Film show
Participants
This workshop is primarily meant for the technicians
who are involved in the processing and quality control of
composites. However, the workshop will also be useful for
fresh engineers who are interested. The event will provide
an excellent opportunity for the participants to get an insight
into the theoretical and practical aspects in the processing
of composites for aerospace as well as for other industrial
applications.
