ISAMPE - Indian society for Advancement of materials and Processing Engineering, is a body of professionals dedicated to the promotion of professional and technical excellence in the field of materials and process technology in the country.

Founded in September, 1985, with Bangalore as Head Quarters, it aims at establishing and fostering scientific and organized approach to advancement and application in the field of materials and processing through education, research, compilation, dissemination of information, training and interaction among professional of inter-disciplinary fields. As the members are drawn from various organizations the deliberations and technical meets of ISAMPE form the basis for planning advanced research by R&D scientists and an opportunity to know the market requirements, new technologies and products.

ISAMPE was formally inaugurated on the 28th November 1985 by Prof.UR Rao, the then Chairman of the Space Commission, Dr.V.S Arunachalam, the then 'Scientific Advisor to the Defense Minister, and Director, ISAMPE delivered the keynote address. The first AGM of ISAMPE was held on 17th January 1987 with Prof. Louis Padulo, Dean of Engineering, University of Boston, as the Chief Guest. The major thrust of ISAMPE is in the field of Composites. It has been organizing number of Conferences, Seminars, Product, Exhibitions and Workshops in this vital field. Adequate attention has been given to other areas, like Electronic and Electrical materials, Low Cost Building Materials, Advanced Alloys, Biomaterials, Ceramics, coatings etc. by conducting thematic lectures in the Technical Session of AGM.

ISAMPE has conferred Honorary Membership of the Society on leading personalities like
Prof. C.N.R. Rao, Dr. Raja Ramanna, Prof. U. R. Rao, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Prof. A.K. Rao, Dr. C.G. Krishnadas Nair and Dr. Kota Harinarayana.

ISAMPE takes pride in having members actively involved in the state-of-art technologies and also working for prestigious National Projects. One of the important tasks taken by ISAMPE is to bring the FRP industries, academicians and R&D institutions closer for mutual benefits.
